The Prefect Body at Hillcrest Prep is headed by a Head boy and a Head girl. An election system is run where interested students that are nominated to join the Prefect Body are voted in by Year 6, Year 7, Year 8 and teachers.
Confirmed prefects are expected to resonate good leadership to the whole school. The number of Prefects is determined by the number of the student body. Elections take place in the third term. The new Prefects, Head boy and Head girl are announced during Prize giving day. The leadership mantle is officially handed to them by the exiting Prefect Body.
In the first term of the next academic year, Prefects sign a contract that outlines the expectations that prefects will demonstrate in their everyday lives, along with the values that the school seeks to uphold.
Prefects report to the Head of the school via the Deputy Head Pastoral. The key task of the Prefect Body is to be a role model for other students.
