Our co-curricular programme expands the reach of subjects into projects, trips and other opportunities for more indepth situational learning. Some examples of activities include:
Hour of Code
All our children take part in this global annual event, an introduction to computer science, designed to demystify “code”, to show that anybody can learn the basics and to broaden the participation in the field of computer science. Past activities have included; coding ‘Angry Bird’ to run an obstacle race; coding Elsa from Frozen to skate specific 2D shapes; building a Star Wars galaxy, creating a simple smartphone apps; coding simple games.
World Environment Day
The annual World Environment Day inspires people around the globe to become active about the environment and learn more about ways they can help to ensure the future of our planet is safe. At Hillcrest, our pupils are taught respect for our environment. As well as involvement in World Environment Day, Friday Afternoon Clubs support a number of environmental initiatives.
Maths Fun Day
Children and parents come together to take part in hands-on mathematical activities. Pupils rotate around classrooms in short lessons focused on fun maths concepts. Parents and pupils go head-to-head in a quick fire maths quiz.
